Gede ruins

Gede Ruins, located in Kilifi County, are the remains of an ancient Swahili town that thrived between the 12th and 17th centuries. Surrounded by a lush forest, the site features coral stone mosques, palaces, and tombs that reflect the rich blend of African, Arab, and Indian influences in coastal trade culture. Once a prosperous settlement, Gede was mysteriously abandoned and is now a protected archaeological and UNESCO World Heritage Site, offering visitors a glimpse into Kenya’s deep coastal history.
