Hamaji, meaning 'nomad' in coastal Swahili, is an African designer collection created by designer Louise Sommerlatte to preserve ancient textile traditions and nomadic craftsmanship while empowering small-scale artisans in Africa. Built on the principles of sustainability and conscious consumerism, Hamaji collections are composed from natural fibres, botanical dyes, hand craft, embroidery, and up-cycled collected vintage textiles. Kapoeta by Ambica is a luxury handmade jewellery brand blending feathers, brass, silver, and semi-precious gemstones. Founded in 2010 as an African eco-fashion label, it champions ethical sourcing and sustainable design inspired by Ambica’s travels through Spain, Morocco, and India. Materials are locally sourced from Kenyan and Balinese artisans, including upcycled feathers from the fly-tying community. Beyond jewellery, Kapoeta offers a linen clothing line handmade by women seamstresses in Bali and tailors in Kenya. Rooted in sustainability and craftsmanship, Kapoeta creates unique pieces that celebrate culture, creativity, and care for the environment.
